## What determines the price of a longevity check-up?

### Laboratory diagnostics
Standard parameters such as cholesterol or a blood count cost a few euros. Specialist assays for hormones, tumour markers, epigenetics and genome sequencing run into three- and four-figure sums. 230+ biomarkers cost a multiple of 87 biomarkers.

### Imaging
A high-resolution whole-body MRI including radiological reporting typically costs €1,500 to €2,500. It is one of the largest single cost blocks and explains the price gap between programmes with and without MRI.

### Physician time
Medical history, findings review, results consultation and prevention plan require several hours of physician work. The deeper the diagnostics, the more time is needed for interpretation and individual advice.

### Specialist diagnostics
Multi-cancer liquid biopsy (€700 to €1,500), genome sequencing (€400 to €2,000), epigenetic clocks (€300 to €800) and microbiome analysis (€200 to €500) are priced individually and raise the programme cost accordingly.

### Longitudinal care
One-off diagnostics cost less than programmes with several check-ins per year. In Ultimate-style programmes the follow-up appointments are already included in the price.

### Location and setting
Running a clinic with its own MRI, ultrasound equipment and laboratory partners costs more than outpatient partner networks. That explains price differences between in-house providers and referral models.

## Private insurance reimbursement under GOÄ
The longevity check-up is not a benefit of German statutory health insurance. For patients with statutory insurance , the check-up is paid entirely privately as a self-pay service.

For privately insured patients , the invoice is issued under the German medical fee schedule (Gebührenordnung für Ärzte, GOÄ). Depending on the policy, private insurers reimburse preventive services partly or in full. The level of reimbursement depends on your individual contract.

Those entitled to Beihilfe , the German civil-servant benefit scheme (civil servants, judges, armed forces), can also submit GOÄ invoices. The Beihilfe office reviews each item individually.

Our recommendation: before your appointment, ask your own insurer which preventive GOÄ items they reimburse . Our team is happy to help with questions about the invoice.

## Frequently asked questions about pricing
What does a longevity check-up cost in Germany? + Depending on diagnostic depth, prices in Germany range from roughly €1,500 to €20,000. Entry-level programmes without imaging start at €1,500 to €2,500. Programmes that include a whole-body MRI typically fall between €5,000 and €8,000. Comprehensive packages covering genetics, epigenetics, liquid biopsy and microbiome analysis range from €12,000 to €20,000. At YEARS the prices are €1,990 (Core), €7,600 (Evolve) and €16,900 (Ultimate).

What makes up the price of a longevity check-up? + Four cost blocks determine the price. 1) Laboratory diagnostics — the more biomarkers, the higher the cost, and specialist assays for hormones, genetics and epigenetics are considerably more expensive than standard parameters. 2) Imaging — a whole-body MRI protocol including radiological reporting accounts for €1,500 to €2,500. 3) Physician time — a detailed history, findings review and prevention plan require several hours of medical work. 4) Specialist diagnostics such as multi-cancer liquid biopsy, genome sequencing or microbiome analysis cost between €500 and €4,000 per procedure.

Does health insurance cover a longevity check-up? + There is no reimbursement under German statutory health insurance — the check-up is not a covered benefit and is paid privately as a self-pay service. For privately insured patients, billing follows the German medical fee schedule (Gebührenordnung für Ärzte, GOÄ). Many private policies reimburse a relevant share of the cost, depending on the individual contract. Reimbursement is not guaranteed. Before your appointment we recommend asking your insurer which preventive GOÄ items they cover.

Is a longevity check-up worth it financially? + That depends on your individual risk profile and on timing. Many age-related conditions are considerably cheaper and more effective to treat at an early stage than after symptoms begin. For many patients, a single check-up between 35 and 55 followed by intervention has a measurable effect on modifiable risk factors such as ApoB, insulin resistance, VO2max and bone density. Firm claims about a financial “return on investment” in the narrow sense cannot be substantiated, as long-term studies are lacking.

Which programme fits my budget? + Patients new to this and those with an unremarkable history sensibly start with Core (€1,990). If you want imaging and early cancer detection, Evolve (€7,600) adds whole-body MRI and liquid biopsy. Ultimate (€16,900) is aimed at patients who want maximum diagnostic depth plus longitudinal support with three check-ins per year, including genome sequencing, epigenetic clocks and microbiome analysis. Upgrading later remains possible if you wish.

Why is a longevity check-up more expensive than a standard check-up? + The statutory Check-up 35 covers basic parameters in roughly 20 to 30 minutes and is financed through fixed budgets. A longevity check-up covers 87 to 230+ biomarkers, MRI imaging, several hours of physician time, spiroergometry, cognitive testing and optional specialist diagnostics. The scale of the cost difference reflects 10 to 100 times more measurement points and substantially longer medical care.

Are there hidden extra costs at YEARS? + No. The stated price at YEARS is a fixed price and covers every examination included in the respective programme as well as the findings consultation. Breakfast and lunch on the diagnostic day are included. Additional costs only arise if you choose to add individual services that are not part of the package — for example extended genetic analysis with Core or Evolve. Follow-up appointments and monitoring are itemised separately and transparently.

Is payment in instalments possible? + YEARS does not currently offer its own instalment plan. Invoicing and payment are direct. Some patients use independent financing options through their bank, or use flexible gift vouchers as a present. Privately insured patients submit the GOÄ invoice for reimbursement and receive the eligible share directly from their insurer. Our team is available for any detailed questions.
