Gut flora analysis in Berlin — holistic & precise
The microbial composition of your gut is as individual as your fingerprint. Our gut flora analysis in Berlin captures thousands of bacterial species and describes the composition of your microbiome. What follows is a medical interpretation in the context of your other values, not a treatment.
Microbial diversity
High microbial diversity is considered a sign of a healthy gut. We measure how diverse your microbiome is and where gaps exist.
Immune system & gut
Around 70% of the immune system resides in the gut. Imbalances in the microbiome can promote chronic inflammation and immune reactions.
Gut-brain axis
The microbiome influences mood, sleep and cognitive function via the gut-brain axis — an important aspect of our analysis.
Metabolism & weight
Certain bacterial strains affect fat metabolism and energy harvesting. We identify metabolically relevant patterns.
Short-chain fatty acids
Butyrate, propionate and acetate are important metabolic products of the microbiome. We measure their production and what it means for your health.
Athletic performance
Recent research shows the microbiome influences recovery, endurance and inflammatory responses after exertion.
Microbiome analysis in Berlin with medical diagnostics
YEARS combines microbiome analysis with comprehensive medical diagnostics. Our methodology is research-led, interpreted by experienced specialist physicians. The assessment also tells you where its informative value ends.
Physician interpretation
Every analysis is evaluated by experienced specialist physicians. You do not receive raw data but clinically relevant findings.
State-of-the-art sequencing
16S rRNA and metagenome sequencing allow precise determination of the bacterial populations in your gut.
Integrated diagnostics
The microbiome analysis is linked with your blood count, inflammatory markers and dietary history — for a complete picture of your gut health.
Interpretation, not a protocol
The finding is read alongside hsCRP, HbA1c and nutrient status. What follows is an interpretation and, where warranted, established diagnostics — not a probiotics protocol.
Gut flora testing in Berlin — insight into your microbiome
A disturbed balance of the gut flora — known as dysbiosis — can manifest in a wide range of complaints: bloating, digestive problems, exhaustion or a weakened immune system. Our gut flora test in Berlin describes the composition and diversity of your gut flora. Part of that interpretation: for people without symptoms there are no accepted reference ranges, which is why we classify the procedure as research-adjacent. An unusual pattern is a reason to interpret, not a diagnosis.
Composition and deviations
We describe how the bacterial groups are distributed and where that differs from reference cohorts. A deviation is a finding, not a disease.
Inflammatory indicators
Certain microbiome patterns are associated with chronic inflammation. We identify those patterns early.
Tracking over time
We collect the value in a standardised way and track it over time. Whether a change in composition means anything for your health is an open question.
Fungal gut testing in Berlin — what a positive finding does and does not mean
Yeasts such as Candida albicans are part of the normal gut flora in a large share of healthy people. A positive stool finding is therefore not in itself evidence of disease. A gut fungus syndrome causing fatigue, sugar cravings or bloating in immunocompetent people is not scientifically established — and we do not treat it as such. Yeast colonisation becomes clinically relevant under immunosuppression or in a corresponding medical constellation.
Detecting Candida
Using PCR diagnostics and culture, we reliably detect Candida albicans and other relevant yeasts in the gut.
What the finding does not explain
Fatigue, sugar cravings and bloating have many possible causes. In immunocompetent people a Candida stool finding is not one of them, and we do not draw that connection.
When it becomes a specialist matter
Under immunosuppression, after prolonged antibiotic therapy or where invasive mycosis is clinically suspected, the finding belongs in specialist care. That is where we hand over.
No anti-fungal regimen
Antifungals without a clinical indication, and anti-fungal diets, are not evidenced for people without symptoms. We neither prescribe nor recommend them.
Gut flora analysis in Berlin with individual advice
A microbiome analysis at YEARS is far more than a laboratory report. Your findings are evaluated by specialist physicians, placed in the context of your overall health and placed in the context of your overall health, with an open account of what can be derived from them and what cannot.
Personal physician consultation
Your findings are discussed in detail — clearly, without jargon and with concrete next steps.
Nutrition recommendations
Based on your microbiome analysis we develop specific nutrition strategies to support your gut health.
No supplement recommendation
We sell no supplements and take no commissions. Evidence for probiotics matched to a microbiome profile is lacking, so we derive no protocol from it.
Lifestyle optimisation
Sleep, stress and exercise influence the microbiome considerably. We advise you holistically.
Long-term support
Gut health is not a one-off task. We support you with regular follow-up monitoring.
Discreet care
Absolute confidentiality and a professional setting — for people with high expectations of quality and discretion.

Frequently asked questions about microbiome analysis
We analyse the composition of your gut flora from a stool sample. Four things are central. First, microbial diversity, since high diversity is regarded as a marker of a resilient gut. Second, the ratio of bacterial groups to one another and whether individual strains are notably over- or under-represented. Third, the short-chain fatty acids butyrate, propionate and acetate, the metabolic products through which the microbiome acts on the gut lining and on inflammation. Fourth, indications of overgrowth, for example by yeasts. You do not receive the result as a raw data set but medically interpreted and placed in the context of your other findings.
You take the sample at home, not at the clinic. You receive a kit with tubes, instructions and return packaging. Collection itself takes a few minutes and is straightforward. Two points matter for a usable result: the sample should reach the laboratory promptly, and it should not be taken directly after a course of antibiotics, because the microbiome remains altered for weeks afterwards. As a rule of thumb we advise an interval of at least four weeks. An acute gastrointestinal infection also distorts the picture. If either applies to you, let us know and we will postpone collection rather than produce a result that says nothing.
The practical benefit lies mainly in nutrition. If the analysis shows that your diversity is low or that short-chain fatty acid production is weak, that can be addressed specifically through fibre, fermented foods and the variety of plant sources in your diet. A second application is symptoms without a clear diagnosis, such as bloating, intolerances or recurring digestive problems, where a look at composition can offer a lead. And because the microbiome responds to dietary changes within weeks, it works as a parameter to track over time. What you do not get is a list of foods to avoid. The evidence is not solid enough for that.
Restraint is warranted here, because a great deal is promised in this field. There is as yet no generally accepted definition of a healthy microbiome against which your result could be compared. Composition varies widely between people, between regions and even within the same person over time. A finding therefore permits no diagnosis: it cannot establish depression, autoimmune disease or obesity, and the direction of causality is unresolved, since illness often changes the microbiome rather than the other way round. Personalised probiotics based on such profiles are also not sufficiently evidenced. We use the analysis as a supplementary building block, not as a diagnostic tool.
The microbiome analysis is part of the Ultimate program, which costs 16,900 euros and bundles the most comprehensive diagnostics at YEARS. There it sits alongside medical genomics, epigenomics and around 230 laboratory biomarkers. It is not included in Core at 1,900 euros or Evolve at 7,600 euros. That is a deliberate decision: a microbiome finding only gains value once it sits next to inflammatory markers, metabolic values and your dietary history. Viewed in isolation it remains hard to interpret. If gut health is your main concern and a full program does not fit, raise it with us in the free intro call. We will tell you honestly whether the analysis is the right route for your question at all.
