Check-in at home — hormones and women’s health
Measure your hormones,
do not guess them.
The cycle changes, sleep gets worse, the energy is gone — and the blood count says nothing about it, because hormones are not part of it. You measure that part at home, on the right day of your cycle rather than on the next free appointment. The partner laboratory analyses the sample and the medical interpretation is waiting in your YEARS portal.
On the right day

Who this is for
Four situations in which hormone values help.
The most important practical difference to a practice visit is not convenience, it is timing. Estradiol, progesterone, FSH and LH can only be interpreted on the matching day of the cycle. When the sample is taken at home, it follows your cycle rather than the appointment calendar.
Your cycle is changing
Shorter, longer, more irregular, heavier bleeding. From the late thirties onwards this is often the first sign of perimenopause, which on average begins years before the final period and frequently goes unrecognised as such.
You are exhausted and nobody finds anything
A normal blood count rules out very little. Thyroid, iron metabolism and hormones are three separate questions, and a standard panel usually covers at most the first.
Sleep, mood and hot flushes
When the symptoms track the cycle, the question is not whether something is off but where in the transition you are. FSH and estradiol place that, though a single value only roughly.
You want to know where you stand
Without specific symptoms, simply as a starting point. That is legitimate, but the most honest moment is one where you would actually act on the result.
Hormone values do not explain every symptom, and an unremarkable profile rules nothing out. What they offer is a placement: does the picture fit the cycle, the perimenopause, or neither.
How it works
Four steps, one of which takes two minutes.
From the postbox to the findings in the portal, everything runs without you. The kit waits at your place until the right day of the cycle arrives.
01The kit arrives by post
You receive a validated self-collection kit with instructions and a prepared return envelope. Nothing to buy or print yourself.
02Take the sample at home
You place the device on your upper arm and press once. The blood then flows into the container by itself over a few minutes — no finger prick, no collecting drop by drop, and enough volume for a full laboratory panel rather than a handful of values. Then the sample goes into the return envelope and into the postbox.
03The partner laboratory analyses it
The analysis runs at the partner laboratory to the same standards as a draw at the clinic. You do not need to follow anything up; we get in touch.
04Results in the YEARS portal
Your values appear in your portal with a medical interpretation: what they mean in context, what has changed since the last measurement and what follows from it. Not a lab sheet for you to decode.

Timing decides
A hormone value without a cycle day is not a measurement, it is a number. At home you take the sample when the value actually says something.
Panels and prices
Two panels, two different questions.
One goes deep into the hormone axis, the other broad across the metabolism. The more expensive one is not the bigger hormone panel — it actually contains fewer hormones, and instead liver, kidney, thyroid, vitamin D and B12. Prices include the laboratory work, the kit, return postage and the medical interpretation.

Rule of thumb: if the question is the cycle, perimenopause or unexplained fatigue with a hormonal suspicion, take the hormone profile. If it is your general status with hormones as one part of it, “complete” fits better. We go through that in the intro call.
What this is not
So the limits are clear.
No diagnosis of PCOS or endometriosis
Both need more than laboratory values: ultrasound, cycle history and, for endometriosis, possibly imaging or laparoscopy. Hormone values can support or weaken the suspicion; they do not establish it.
No AMH, no fertility status
Anti-Müllerian hormone, used to estimate ovarian reserve, is in none of the panels. For questions around conception that is the central gap, and it cannot be closed here.
Only TSH, not the full thyroid
The “complete” panel contains TSH, but neither fT3 and fT4 nor the antibodies. An abnormal TSH is therefore a reason to investigate, not a finished thyroid work-up.
Common questions about hormone values at home
With a regular cycle the standard window for FSH, LH and estradiol is between days two and five, counted from the first day of bleeding. Progesterone, by contrast, is measured in the second half of the cycle, roughly seven days before the next expected period. If the cycle is irregular or absent, the day matters less but the interpretation becomes more demanding. You receive the instructions matching your panel with the kit, and because the kit sits at your place, you can wait for the right day.
Measuring, yes; interpreting, only to a limited extent. Combined pills suppress FSH and LH and lower your own estradiol, while SHBG rises markedly, which mathematically pushes down free testosterone. The profile then shows the effect of the contraception rather than your own hormonal situation. With a hormonal IUD, an implant or a progestogen-only pill the picture is less uniform. Tell us what you take and we will say in advance whether the measurement is worth it in your case.
Only partly, and that is a limitation of laboratory values in general rather than of this test. During perimenopause FSH and estradiol fluctuate strongly from cycle to cycle, so a single value can look unremarkable even though the transition is well underway. The professional societies make the diagnosis clinically, through cycle patterns and symptoms, not through the laboratory. The value helps to place things and to exclude other causes. Conversely, a high FSH alone proves nothing.
Neither; they only partly overlap. The hormone profile contains the full axis: FSH, LH, estradiol, prolactin, DHEAS, testosterone, SHBG and albumin. The “complete” panel contains only estradiol and progesterone from the hormones, and instead lipid metabolism, HbA1c, liver, kidney, TSH, vitamin D and B12. If your question is hormonal, the hormone profile is the better fit despite the lower price.
No, and that is the difference to a test bought online. Every panel comes with a medical interpretation: what the values mean in context and on the stated day of your cycle, what has changed against an earlier measurement, and what concretely follows. You find it in your YEARS portal.
As a private medical service we bill according to GOÄ, so reimbursement is possible depending on your policy. Privately insured patients submit the invoice to their insurer; with occupational health insurance the annual budget applies. German statutory health insurance generally covers hormone values only with a concrete suspicion of disease, not for taking stock. The insurer always decides bindingly.
